Backstory

His family runs a braised-snack stall at the night market. He sleeps days, helps out evenings, and kills the flame under the last pot of stock at closing. The darkroom was his high school photography club's storeroom. Nobody looked after it once the teacher left, so he took the keys, at first just so the enlargers wouldn't go for scrap. The camera round his neck was the teacher's. He develops other people's film; he's never pressed the shutter on his own.
