A craftsman who made precision measuring instruments for forty years; the workshop has passed to his apprentice. He stayed on in the darkroom after repairing an old enlarger, and trims paper to the half millimetre.

Backstory

Forty years making measuring instruments. The workshop has gone to his apprentice; he's only in two mornings a week. Someone brought him an old enlarger to repair. Once it was fixed he stayed to run a roll through it, and found it's one of the few jobs left that still needs precision in the hands. Paper trimmed half a millimetre off gets cut again. That's a workshop rule he brought with him: before a thing leaves your hands, it has to be worth the hands it's going to.
