Underground idol. Three or four shows a week, on a stage in the basement of a live house, two metres from the crowd. The fees don't cover rent and costumes, so she needed a side job that didn't mean facing an audience. The live house owner had a darkroom full of junk and let her start by printing her own show photos. She worked out that whoever's under the brightest lights needs the darkest room there is. Later, other people's film landed in her hands too.
