Darkroom guides

Leo
Moon-white hair worn long, an ivory shirt under a long mist-blue coat; he keeps the glass plate archive at a highland observatory.
Archivist for the glass dry plates at a highland observatory, in charge of the old star charts and astronomical negatives. The darkroom there only ever handled plates, and he took on the household film people sent up as well, on the grounds that a plate hangs drying all night and his hands need something to do.
Backstory
The archive room at the highland observatory is his. Cabinet after cabinet of glass plates, numbered, sleeved and shelved by the night they were exposed, some of them older than the observatory's oldest mirror. Glass is thin. A few break every year, and each break means writing out a fresh number card. The darkroom up there was only meant for plates. Someone slipped household film into a delivery box, he developed it, and he has not stopped since. He says little while he works, and waits until you have finished before he asks anything. The question is always small and exact. He loses the tweezers he has just set down, and ends up feeling his way across the whole bench again.
