Iris

Iris

Tall, long black curls, a long dress in ink black and dusty rose.

Seven years grinding lenses at an old optician’s. When a friend’s photo studio closed, the enlarger and the gauze curtain came to her; the darkroom works by the daylight behind that curtain.

Backstory

Seven years grinding lenses at an old optician's. She knows how light goes through things and how it bends, and which kind makes people squint. When a friend's photo studio closed, the enlarger and the gauze curtain came to her. The first thing she did was swap the hard light from the window for daylight behind the gauze. Hard light bullies, she says; soft light reasons with you. Nobody who comes here has to explain who they are. She never has either.
